Final Friday, June 20, was primarily notable for the quantities of rain pouring down the entire day. Had we not preplanned to fulfill with the EAAFP crew, perhaps we’d have canceled the journey. Like this, it was an incredible journey with only a few birds, and virtually no good views, with one exception, however superb talks and nice firm. Sadly, as a result of climate, all we might do was drive by the rice fields and sometimes cease, with solely the obvious birds seen – amongst them, albeit briefly, one Chinese language Sparrowhawk. However the largest shock got here proper at first, once we visited Hak reservoir: two immature Larger White-Fronted Geese who appear to have missed the chance emigrate northwards. I’m not conscious, how usually this occurs, however for me these had been the primary June geese in Korea – normally, the late geese generally seen till early April both migrate lastly late, or perhaps are too sick and don’t survive.
