It was a gloriously sunny day with barely a breath of wind, which Linda, Sue, Peter and I had chosen to spend within the Brecks. First cease (having endured the nightmare of the A11 roadworks!) was Mayday Farm. The very first hen we noticed was a Woodlark, on cellphone wires by the parking space: the one one we encountered all day! In between the F-15s and F-35s we steadily added attention-grabbing birds to the record: a few Goshawks, quite a few Buzzards and Kites and a Raven. Better of all, although, have been the Redpolls, Siskins and Goldfinches that have been visiting a little bit consuming pool by the principle observe. Close by, the ‘display pool’ wasn’t so productive: simply a few Yellowhammers.
After lunch at Brown’s, we visited Weeting Heath: so unhappy to see this nice little reserve being left unmanned, with no data board – or icecreams! No Stone Curlews, both…
Final cease was Cockley Cley, the place just some Hares and Linnets have been about the most effective we noticed: we wound the day up with tea and desserts in Swaffham!
