Since Linda was promoting honey and wax-wraps at a neighborhood farmers’ market, I used to be marooned at house. I made a decision to do a little bit of backyard upkeep: cleansing out pond pumps, watering tubs and weeding the garden. Evidently, a digital camera was close by, and I used to be happy to see – and photograph – a number of teams of Swifts. Kestrels are usually not widespread over the Heath, so a hovering male was good to see, as was one of many native Purple Kites.
We have a tendency to decide on uncommon vegetation for the backyard: certainly one of my ‘picks’ was a Drimys. a hard-to-find species from South America. This specimen has not flowered since we planted it 4 years in the past, so this spring’s show was a shock and delight!
