It has been some time since Brian, Norman and I visited Titchwell: it is fairly a protracted drive from East Norfolk and hasn’t held a lot of curiosity to date this 12 months. The presence of a Pectoral Sandpiper on Sunday tempted us to make the hour and 1 / 4 drive, arriving at round half previous eight. Because it turned out, the Pec had flown off concerning the time we have been leaving Norwich!
A go to to all three hides / watchpoints revealed nothing out of the extraordinary: a number of Arctic Terns flew via with the numerous Commons, whereas two massive teams of Avocet have been noteworthy. Different waders included Black-tailed Godwit and some Ruff: two Spoonbills dozed behind the Freshmarsh, whereas a go to to Patsy’s failed to supply any Crimson-crested Pochards.
A cease at North Level Swimming pools added nothing new: we simply made it again to the automotive earlier than the torrential rain began. Espresso and scones at Kelling (Cley was full up!) was most welcome: whereas we loved our snack the rain set in once more, so we referred to as it quits and drove residence!
