With Norman unavailable, Brian and I headed north by means of the wind and tree branches to Cley. First cease was an abortive search for Waxwings: the highway alongside which they’d been reported was blocked by a fallen tree!
We may see a great deal of geese on the Eye Subject, so we drove out to the Coastguards (nostalgia!) the place Brian fairly rapidly situated the often-elusive Purple-breasted Goose. After a great ‘grill’, we moved on to Stiffkey, stopping to admire a Nice Egret and huge flock of Curlew behind the delicatessen. Additional alongside, reverse Morston Church, we accomplished the set with 4 Cattle Egrets and a Little Egret. No signal of the Stiffkey Ibis, so we reurned to Cley simply because the VC opened for tea and scones: as we have been ending, one of many ‘vols’ informed us {that a} Ruddy Shelduck was seen from Dauke’s Disguise, so we hurried off to search for it. Richard ‘the Hat’ was already ensconced, and was capable of level us in the best course: regardless of the huge numbers of Pinkfeet, we each managed cheap views.
A fruitless Twite Hunt at Blakeney was adopted by a return to Stiffkey: this time a stroll alongside the principle highway produced distant views to spherical off a terrific day.
