With horrendous rain forecast, and with at present being the one day when Brian & Norman had been free, we met early and headed north. First cease was nice Ryburgh, the place, regardless of finding the one cattle within the space, we could not see any of the reported fifteen Cattle Egrets.
Carrying on to Cley we settled in Bishop’s Disguise for half an hour, hoping the distant calidrid flock would come nearer: it did not, so we walked out alongside the East Financial institution. The Lengthy-billed Dowitcher was seen distantly (asleep!) on Arnold’s with its recurring flock of Godwits and a solitary Spoonbill. A number of Little Egrets, however nothing a lot to get enthusiastic about till the Godwits took off and flew in direction of Pat’s Pool. The Dowitcher was then straightforward to select, particularly when it assumed the lead!
After espresso we returned to Bishop’s: no signal of the Dowitcher, however two cute Little Stints had been nice to see. Half a dozen Pintail and a well-marked Ruff had been additionally noteworthy.
Returning residence by way of Nice Ryburgh, we lastly situated the Cattle Egrets: sadly the grass was so lengthy – they usually had been so distant – that pictures was nearly unattainable. (I did handle one ‘peek-a-boo’ shot!)
