After an especially bird-poor ferry journey, three hours within the northeast produced a single Purple Heron and Gray-headed Lapwing and an especially late Jap Buzzard, shifting throughout the island with a small variety of different raptors. As well as, a barking cuckoo was heard. Most irritating was a possible Manchurian Reed Warbler heard calling, a slurred “tek” or agitated “tet”, then seen briefly largely in opposition to the sunshine. The chook seemed long-billed and long-tailed, with a darkish brown forehead (apparently not black – this characteristic seen in vivid mild for c. 5 seconds by means of binoculars) setting off a whiteish, maybe barely flared supercilium. The upperparts had been pale milk chocolate brown; the rump was quite heat orangey-brown; the underparts had been barely heat brown, except for a really pale throat. I managed only one out-of-focus digiscoped picture earlier than the chook flew into cowl. Sadly, the chook didn’t reply clearly to enjoying of songs of Manchurian Reed or Paddyfield Warblers.
