The late summer time interval alongside the Han River Estuary is a not really easy time to look at birds. The colonies of Nice Cormorants, egrets and Black-Confronted Spoonbills on Yudo islet are lengthy deserted, and birds are principally nonetheless secretive. Nonetheless, in our journey within the final – and nonetheless highly regarded – summer time days we managed to have some lovely views of a number of the extra widespread birds. A spotlight was a Gray-Confronted Buzzards beginning to circle low over the Han River, and later virtually disappearing within the excessive skies. Others included good views of the Passion, Black-Confronted Spoonbills, egrets and herons, lots of of swallows (principally Barn Swallows with some Pink-rumped Swallows in between), Bull-headed Shrikes and so on.
Apart from the good outing, the journey was made worthwhile by nice conversations with our co-birders: John MacKinnon, writer of the primary chicken information of China, in addition to Jennifer George, CEO of the East Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership and her colleague Yoonjae Bae. The journey gave us an incredible alternative to debate choices of higher safety of birds on the Korean Peninsula and prospects to help the event of chicken specialists in North Korea, for instance by a complete chicken information for the nation.
