On our final day in Sussex we lastly woke as much as sunshine, giving us the chance to revisit one in every of our favorite locations, Pulborough Brooks. A brief stroll right down to the primary conceal gave us distant views of six species of raptor: Peregrine, Interest, Kestrel, Buzzard, Crimson Kite and Marsh Harrier, whereas a number of Pintail lounged among the many Wigeon and Teal. Whereas we had been having fun with an ice cream, a wonderful Small Copper rested on Linda’s sleeve for a minute or two… (By the best way: I did most of the pushing: Linda’s serving to out right here on a steep slope at Pulborough!)
Again to the cottage to clear up and be amused by the antics of the ever-present woodpecker, in addition to a pair of Buzzards and a rabbit. Throughout our brief break we noticed heaps extra birds than we may {photograph}, together with Goshawk (two!) Sparrowhawk and an owl that rushed via the backyard at nightfall.
The journey dwelling was horrendous, with heavy rain, detours, thunder and lightning and flooded roads: nice to be again in Norfolk!
