In the present day was the final morning of Church unlocking for a number of weeks: hoping to keep away from the promised rain I popped throughout early-ish (seeing plenty of Yellowhammers on the way in which!)
As I walked by way of the churchyard I might nearly make out a small, hunched, brown define on one of many gravestones within the southern part: it appeared lots like a Little Owl. Having unlocked, put out indicators and many others, I rushed dwelling, returning 5 minutes later with my digicam to search out that the fowl was, actually, a Purple-legged Partridge! I did see a Buzzard on the way in which dwelling…
Linda and I are happy to have Home Sparrows breeding within the backyard: one of many current fledgelings has taken to begging for meals outdoors our bed room window! He was joined by a Goldfinch, sheltering from the rain within the Buddleia. What lovely birds they’re!
