Since I wanted to select up some smoked fish from the superb Smokehouse at Brancaster Staithe, Brian and I began at Titchwell, strolling out to the ocean to search for divers and grebes. There have been a lot of waders: Sanderling, Knot, Gray Plover, Turnstone and so forth. Finally we discovered a few Nice Northern Divers, in addition to a Slavonian Grebe and a Black-throated Diver – too far out for useable pictures. A number of Crimson-breasted Mergansers scooted by offshore. On the way in which again to the carpark we added Water Rail to the tally, in addition to (in all probability!) the reported Siberian Chiffchaff. (Glorious high picture by Brian!)
The transfer to Cley for espresso wasn’t notably productive, so we carried on to Ludham Airfield the place we ultimately situated two Bewick’s Swans amongst a herd of Whoopers.
