It appears ages since I’ve had a time out with Norman & Brian (what with covid and different mishaps!) so right this moment was a really welcome break. We began the day with half an hour scan of the tamarisks on the Salthouse seaside highway turnoff, within the firm of a really nice couple from Blakeney. The goal was a ‘considerably elusive’ Greenish Warbler: they’d seen it the earlier night and a few instances earlier than we arrived. Amazingly we ‘loved’ two second views: temporary, however conclusive.
Subsequent cease was Bishop’s Cover, the place we rapidly positioned (with instructions from a pleasant Scots birder) a juvenile Curlew Sandpiper. It was as far-off because it might presumably be, however all of us managed just a few document photographs. (Our Scottish good friend allow us to see the chicken very well by means of his telescope!)
Different birds began appearing: Inexperienced Sandpiper, Snipe, a lot of Ruff and Black-tailed Godwits and a patrolling Interest. A stroll alongside the East Financial institution was unproductive till we reached the ocean, when the acquainted ‘seven whistles’ alerted us to a passage of Whimbrel. The centre hides added nothing specifically, so we known as it a day….
