The Summer time Wine Crew made an early begin, driving by way of the frost to Nice Massingham. Arriving at 08.00, we spent practically an hour and a half not seeing any of the reported eight Hawfinches (Effectively: not conclusively any approach) A juvenile Cormorant with a very white ‘underside’ was fascinating.
We moved north to Titchwell, which added only a distant Mediterranean Gull to the tally, though some shut views of widespread waders have been value recording. Since I used to be tasked with delivering a few of Linda’s wax wraps to the guests’ centre, we continued east to Cley, which was completely rammed. After espresso we walked out to the Serpentine, the place a pleasing couple allow us to peep by way of their telescope at a distant Jack Snipe. If it hadn’t been ‘bobbing’ it might have been not possible to select!
Final cease was Hickling, the place the elusive goal birds – a pair of Garganey – dozed distantly on a grassy island. Close by a few Nice Egrets stalked the shallows, whereas a number of Pink Kites patrolled over the purple beds.
