With our supposed journey to Minsmere rained off and no information on the Booted, Norman, Brian & I headed to our default location: Bishop’s Conceal at Cley. A look throughout the reserve from the seashore revealed three Cattle Egrets: we finally noticed all three species throughout the day. It was attention-grabbing to witness a Pink Kite swoop down and pluck a juvenile Lapwing (?) from an island – by no means seen this earlier than!
A transfer to the centre hides added a trio of Spoonbills (together with a ‘Teaspoon’!) and a distant Greenshank. After a chat with Jacqui B, David and their Crew, we adjourned for decent drinks on the VC earlier than heading westwards.
We arrived at Titchwell simply forward of the rain, including Bearded Tit and Nice Egret to the daylist earlier than retreating again to the Yare Valley…
