The Oakland Zoo welcomed a brand new addition to their reticulated giraffe herd. A 13-month previous male giraffe, from Audobon Nature Institute in Louisiana, traveled to California in a specially-designed provider to accommodate his 10-foot top.
The brand new giraffe is getting comfy in his new house, and the zoo has offered totally different types of enrichment, bedding, and crops to eat to see what he prefers. He’s getting used to the sights, sounds, and smells of the opposite giraffes within the herd by way of a fence for now. When the animal care crew thinks he’s prepared, he’ll be a part of his herdmates within the African Savanna giraffe habitat.
