Rescued From Snow, Recovered White Pelican Steps into Spring

We’re glad to report the American White Pelican beforehand present in snowy South Lake Tahoe, California was efficiently returned to his pure habitat. He was launched after two weeks in care, at Marathon’s Martinez Renewable Fuels wetlands in Martinez, CA on March 15.

Earlier in March, the White Pelican acquired off track and into unfamiliar territory: the winter wonderland the place witnesses say he hit an influence line. These pelicans usually inhabit inland shallow freshwater lakes and marshes in the summertime and coastal lagoons within the winter. This White Pelican could have been on his strategy to Lake Pyramid breeding floor in Nevada east of Lake Tahoe.

When wild birds are present in uncommon areas, it’s an indication they need assistance. Due to the people who acknowledged this urgency and rapidly took motion, this pelican was saved from probably dire penalties.

We’d wish to thank our buddies/group associate at Marathon on the Martinez Renewable Fuels Facility for supporting our work and making second probabilities for these waterbirds potential.
