The Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership launched 5 orphaned manatees to Blue Spring State Park in Florida. Blue Spring State Park is house to a spring that stays a relentless 22°C (72°F). These heat waters present a refuge to tons of of manatees through the winter months.
The 5 manatees had initially been rescued as calves in 2020 or 2021. Over the previous few years, they had been handled and rehabilitated by a partnership of organizations, together with SeaWorld Orlando, The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Brevard Zoo, Georgia Aquarium, Clearwater Marine Aquarium Analysis Institute, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Save the Manatee Membership.
The manatees had been fitted with GPS monitoring gadgets so their progress will be monitored.
