With the day free for each of us, Linda and I made a decision on a run right down to the Brecks. First cease was the ‘regular’ Stone Curlew gathering website, however with the fields knee-high in sugar beet there was no probability.
After a brief drive we spent an hour or so at Lynford, beginning off the crushed monitor earlier than retracing our steps to the well-known 5 bar gate. To our amazement we watched two Hawfinches ingesting and bathing on the concrete bowl alongside the experience. Sadly this was largely obscured by tall grass, so no images: terrific to look at although. Different birds right here included Nuthatch and Siskin. The one new chicken for the 12 months was – lastly – a Goldcrest! We watched one flitting from tree to tree excessive within the cover with a tit flock. A number of butterflies, however little else, so we drove again to Swaffham for a late tapas lunch on the pleasant Tutankhamun’s Emporium.
