Three 12 months ticks right this moment! With early morning drizzle, an easterly wind and work occurring by all of the hides on the reserve, Norman and I spent an hour sea watching on the Coastguards. We have been rewarded with shut views of Pink-throated Divers (most in summer time plumage) Razorbills, Guillemots, Gannets and Little Gulls: better of all an Arctic Skua chased a gaggle of Sandwich Terns fairly shut in. A Bonxie was too far out to {photograph}…
A stroll alongside the Iron Highway produced a few potential Caspian Gulls and dozens of Mipits however little else, so we returned to the VC for espresso, adopted by a stroll out to the ocean alongside the East Financial institution. A Razorbill and much extra Gannets have been shut in and a few fly-bys appeared good for winter-plumaged Black Terns. A drake Eider was one other nice shock! Walsey Hills was subsequent, the place a quick wait was rewarded by views of a flittery Yellow-browed Warbler – I managed only a single photograph!
We completed the day at Kelling Quag, the place a feminine Stonechat posed properly, as did the eleven Pink Kites and two Buzzards that circled low overhead! (Keep in mind when each have been scarce in Norfolk?)
