After yesterday’s late night time gig on the Prince Regent, I spent an hour unloading all of the gear from the automobile and arranging it within the ‘music room’. Simply once I was considering of enjoyable, an off-the-cuff test of RBA despatched me scurrying north west to Hickling to try to meet up with the just-reported Black-winged Kite. Some energy strolling took me to the western viewpoint over Brendan’s Marsh, the place I joined a crowd of well-known birders, who identified the kite. Even via a scope, it wasn’t far more than a blob within the warmth haze, so I made a decision to attempt the mound on the jap finish. From right here the fowl was a lot nearer and it was good to get pleasure from it with previous acquaintances Lynne Warner and Keith Bilverstone: solely 5 individuals right here, which amazed me, as a result of the Solar was positioned higher and the fowl was nearer (However nonetheless distant!)
Different birds seen included Nice White Egret, Crane and two Bitterns, as effectively the long-staying hybrid Hooded Crow.
