Researchers have found a brand new lizard species in China’s higher Dadu River Valley within the Hengduan Mountains of Sichuan, China. The lizard, Diploderma bifluviale sp. nov. is presently recognized to exist in semi-arid scrublands within the area’s heat and dry valleys at elevations of two,187–2,525 meters, the researchers wrote of their paper. Description
The lizard has a khaki coloured head with an olive coloured stripe on the entrance and an olive coloured strip on the again. The top is roofed in olive coloured dots. It options seven black and darkish khaki coloured stripes across the higher eye. Its dorsal floor is a darkish khaki shade jagged dorsolateral stripes from its neck to the pelvis. The coloration between these stripes are a darkish khaki and black. It additionally options large black stripes on either side of the shoulder. It measures between 2.5 and three inches in size, with the males smaller than the females. The lizards of the Diploderma genus are present in East Asia and the northern Indochinese Peninsula, in largely mountain habitats.
