Oakland Zoo Welcomes New Tiger Rescue

Oakland Zoo in California welcomed a brand new feminine tiger in July! The brand new addition is called Sitara, which is Hindu for “star”.

Sitara was certainly one of 5 tigers rescued by the zoo. These tigers have been deserted at a personal facility, and so they all had bodily illnesses like blindness, arthritis, or spinal illness.

Oakland Zoo vets handled the tigers, then three of the tigers have been transferred to different amenities for lifelong care. One of many tigers had well being points that have been too excessive and needed to be euthanized.

Sitara will keep on at Oakland Zoo as her everlasting dwelling. The Animal Care workers is coaching her so she learns how you can navigate swimming pools, a waterfall, raised platforms, grass, and vegetation in her new habitat. These are all options she’s by no means skilled earlier than!
