A drive by way of the drizzle to Cley was the prelude to a considerably irritating day trip: we did see some attention-grabbing birds, however ‘dipped’ on three potential year-ticks. First cease was a short seawatch on the seaside carpark: nothing to report, so we headed westwards to Friary Hills, Blakeney. Regardless of grill of the hedges the place a Barred Warbler had been seen earlier, all we managed had been some widespread warblers, a Music Thrush and a flock of Lengthy-tails.
Again to Cley, parking on the finish of the East Financial institution for a trudge alongside the woodland path at Walsey Hills. No Dusky or Yellow-browed Warbler, just some Chiffchaffs and a Willow Warbler. (To be truthful, I’d have spent loads longer at each websites if I would been alone, however I by no means prefer to impose on the opposite two…)
Tea and scones earlier than a stroll out to the Centre Hides, the place fourteen or so Cattle Egrets posed properly, as did a dapper Little Stint. (Nice to fulfill and chat with new ‘vol’ Mike in addition to the indefatigable Elizabeth Dack!) Three Whooper Swans grazed with Pinkfeet behind the VC.
Final cease was Kelling, the place an extended stroll as much as the weapons added Stonechat and one other Cattle Egret: we trotted again to the automotive simply forward of the rain.
