Say hey to Joann the giraffe, the latest member of the giraffe herd at Oakland Zoo! Joann is 2 years outdated, and he or she simply moved to Oakland Zoo from The Residing Desert Zoo and Gardens in April.
When she first arrived, she was launched to Maggie, a 14-year-old resident giraffe to assist her get acclimated to her new habitat. The 2 giraffes stayed behind the scenes within the giraffe barn.

After a number of weeks, Maggie led Joann out to introduce her to the remainder of the herd. After smelling each other, Joann the herd started grazing and foraging collectively.

“Joann is extremely candy and seeks out connections with the opposite giraffes and her new Animal Care Keepers. She could be very courageous, and her curiosity grows day-after-day,” mentioned Jessica Parke, Oakland Zoo Animal Care Keeper.
